If the man says his heatsink is dying, his heatsink is dying. Don't ruin his shiny new stuff fun.

imo Thermalright is the way to go. Silver Arrow/Macho. I'd say Archon but that isn't gonna fit the R3.

There are plenty of highend HSFs that are thermally efficient, a good value, quiet and can't leak water and destroy expensive PC hardware like the H80 or similar. Pick a highend HSF that fits your PC case and clears you're RAM and you should be good to go. Any of the top 10 or so HSFs will be just fine if they clear everything. Buy what makes YOU happy.

I've been looking at the H80 and it seems to be what I'm looking for, still taking recommendations tho smile.gif

Or just replace the fans? How else can it die?

Regardless, I guess I would peruse frozencpu for air coolers and look at online reviews, in particular frostytech ^ But I would emphatically not recommend the hyper 612. It is huge, difficult to install, the build quality of the anchoring system is not very good, and it doesn't do any better cooling than the hyper 212+.

Just clean up the CPU and cooler of old paste and reapply with "fresh" paste. I did that one time with an older computer that had high CPU temps and the CPU temps dropped after I did this. Also give the heatsink a quick clean. thumb.gif
