bahahaha! I OC pretty frequently, but dont really bench, as i said, currently the 6100 is sitting in the 880 on 4.5ghz, on about 1.4volts (I think) still getting use to the FX chips. Previously, i had the 955BE in it, on 4.2ghz and 1.5volts.

and how much voltage do you kick the VRM up to or your cpu/NB stock is 1.175 to 1.2?

When i OC, i dont normally touch the NB volts/frequency. I do it all via the Multi, but i do fiddle with the ram abit biggrin.gif
post #16 of 25
from what Ive been reading on the FX chips they need more fine tunning to get larger over clocks I need more VRM and CPU/NB voltage to get my 1090T 4.2 ghz

m not that neat but i tried to be clear here

the VRM area i marked needs to be kept cool when you are overclocking biggrin.gif
Hope that helped thumb.gif

touch them when running prime 95 if it stings your finger then they are way to hot as in critical failure hot.

I've got more common sense then that.....

Or get the gun that points an infared dot to check temps.

My motherboard (GA-990XA-UD3) has cooled MOSFETs, so if your looking for a good board to OC on, try it.

If the board you have now is the one in the OP, then I would recommend not upping the voltage, or raising the overclock beyond a 200-300MHz, or you risk a critical failure.
