Crucial M4 128 vs Intel 520 120?

Thread Starter
I can't decide between these two! This comparison seems to indicate the Intel 520 is better in more tests: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/425?vs=529&i=260.261.262.263.264.265.266.267.268.269.270.271.82.272.83.85.86.290.291.292.293.294.295.296.297.298.299.300.301.302.303.304.275.276.277.278.279.280.281.282.283.284.285.286.287.288.289.273.274

What is your opinion? The price difference is quite small, so given the choice, which would you get?

Both drives use high quality nand from the same factory.

The 520 is the only Sandforce drive with truly "fixed" firmware.

The 520 has a 5 year warranty vs Crucial's 3.

Within $20 of each other, I'd get the 520.

They are. I went through heck with OCZ when the Sandforce 2281 controller was released. Took them 6 months to find the most common bsod bug meanwhile they blamed all the users and board for the issue.

Intel has been testing the 2281 controller for almost a year before releasing it. They fixed problems that Sandforce themselves could not find.

Both are great drives. I own both. smile.gif

I would get whichever is cheaper. The M4 is better than the 520 in random reads, which is what most people care about, but really the difference in speeds are so small and unnoticeable unless you have 2 PCs with 1 of either SSDs running at the same time, cos either one of em are so fast.

Just decide whether the 5year warranty is impt to you.
