Hello guys and gals,
I have around 150 euro to spend on a new case and would like some feedback from you

Requirements:

1) Sexy (Also on the inside naturally. What can I say, I'm a sensitive kind of guy)
1.1) Window: am skipping meals to buy this stuff so at least want to see it!
2) Expandability. I plan on taking the plunge into WC within 10-12 months (first CPU only, then maybe CPU/GPU loop) Note: I am not a power user at all, I just love this stuff.

I have fallen in love with the 600t for obvious aesthetics: heart.gif
http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/Corsair-Graphite-600T-Midi-Tower-white-Window::17680.html

Pros: extremely sexy. Great for my current system. Can be expanded to fit a 360 rad with some modding. So sexy.

Cons: Will probably not fit the thicker 360 rads in push pull. Is not as spacious as full tower cases EDIT: for example might be tight with some reservoirs and pumps?

The 810 Switch (black, the white looks cheap to me)
http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/NZXT-Switch-810-Big-Tower-black::18205.html

Pros: not ugly. No modding needed (ok, I admit I am a little hesitant to mod)

Cons: its not the 600t. The materials have a cheaper look than both the 600t and the HAF X

the HAF X
http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/Cooler-Master-HAF-X-RC-942-KKN1-Big-Tower-black::14776.html

Pros: Correct me if I am wrong, but internally this is the best case no?

Cons: Looks like something a teenager would buy gunner2.gif (no offence, hell I would have loved it 6 months ago but could only afford the 430 elite!)

Summary: I am looking for reasons not to buy the 600t, am pretty convinced right now tbh but want to make sure I didnt miss anything. Also, I am not the most informed person out there regarding what cases are good. (am doing my phd so after facebook, phdcomics.com, college humor and my thesis I dont have too much time)

Thanks a lot for your help and advice, any level welcome even "the 600t is so ugly it makes onions cry!" thumb.gif

Voted for the Switch 810.
It has the following options for watercooling, making it very futureproof.

Radiators
In the top: Radiators 3x120mm, 4x120mm, 4x120mm (with modification) and optical drive moved to a lower bay. Note that 60mm thick Radiatiors may not fit with push/pull fan configuration because of your motherboards' mosfets and other items.
In the bottom: Radiators: 1x120mm, 2x120mm (if bottom HDD cage is removed). Note that your PSU can not be longer than 160mm if you want to place a single rad between the PSU and HDD cage, or a 2x120 Radiator in the bottom.
Options: 1x120mm Radiator on HDD cage, 2x120mm Radiator on HDD cage.

Reservoirs
Cylindar style: In between 5.25 bay and ATX motherboard.
Bay Res: Yes, up to 5x5.25 bays.
Aquatube: Yes, though it takes 3x5.25 bays.

Here's a comparison picture of the Switch 810 and the 600t. As you can see the Switch 810 is taller making it more suitable for push/pull configurations with thick radiators.

I'm about to buy that 600t as well. It's so sexy!
post #4 of 8
I vote for the 600T honestly. Corsair's cable management has always been top tier for me and the aesthetics are fantastic. If you're going Watercooling it's the best option of the three. I chose my Raven for air cooling only and would have went with the 600T if it had better fans. BUT since you want water as I said 600T ftw.

Anything other than the HAF-X?!

If you're into modifying your case, then the HAF-X has lots of opportunities. I didn't plan on WC'ing this case and now I can see the limitations, especially the top cover which will block air flow due to its design.

However, there are some interesting mods that have been completed, and below is one of them.

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=214016

Pick a computer that allows free airflow either in or out of the case w/o obstructions and you'll be just fine.

Ok the 600t needs a lot of modding to fit good sized rads in it, depending on the rads/fans you choose you can still get a decent water cooling set up, but quite a big of labor in it.

I love my 600t, and as for res/pump there is plenty of room if you take out an HDD cage, or get a 5.25 res/pump. Even thought I love my 600t, if I had to do it again I would go with a larger case like the switch 810. The reason being that even with my H100, configuring push/pull is difficult without modding. I managed to run push/pull, but had to use 2 slim 120's and they don't have very good static pressure at all. Anything past the H100, and you are going to chop up that case rolleyes.gif

This one gets my vote as well, if your not expirenced with modding, or are at least handy with a dremel and a drill, then stay away from modding the 600t.

As for a cheaper look, that is only due to the fact that it is a plastic instead of a metal on parts of the case. You could always start your modding life by painting the 810 thumb.gif

EDIT:I took your font size back down, no need to yell.

Thanks buddy for the feedback. The superiority of the 810 Switch is exactly why it is in the list. However, I am just not sure I can get over the plain and plasticy look. As I said I am not a power user and would watercool simply for the fun factor and to get a little more juice, so I think modding the 600t for a 3x120mm and introducing a 200mm rad at the front or a 120 at the back should be enough. But +rep for the reply, thanks.

I have never modded a case, so I admit I would be pretty nervous about stripping and cutting my case. But since there are a number of good mod logs out there I figured I could give it a shot and follow their lead. Good idea about painting the 810 though though I think it may be back in the running +rep It is just a pity they didnt make the 600t just that little bit bigger!!!

If you're going Watercooling it's the best option of the three
what makes you say that? I would think both the HAF X and especially the 810 have more room for expansion. I'd stick to my Nh-d14 for the time being though and put on my trunks in around 10-12 months

Thanks for all the feedback and help guys. biggrin.gif
