Yea looks beautiful. I am still thinking about doing. Roughly how much does it cost to put the side window in? Did you use acrylic or plexi?

The window lets see, it's mainly time is what it cost. I paid $10 for acrylic glass which is same thing as plexi I believe just one is a brand name.
Others have used lexan glass but it's not as ideal to work with.
The u-channel molding I got from a company BestByte and I bought 30 feet for $14 shipped but you don't need as much so lets say about $7 is what you would need for molding. Lastly you need a jigsaw and if you don't want to repaint your case you will need some kind of painters tape to protect the case when your using power tools. Oh and one other important thing is a good set of metal files which can be had for about $10 that makes your edges nice and smooth.

hope that helps.

I am a mechanic by trade so I have a shop full of tools. I was just thinking the best way to cut it would probably be a jigsaw. I think acrylic is different though then plexi. Thanks for the advice hopefully I start this summer instead of just wasting time lol. Did you get the acrylic locally? Thanks for the advice.

Time is usually what costs. But its a labor of love.

I just saw you have a lanboy air to. lol the 2 cases that are staring at me right now. lol

I bought my acrylic glass at lowes home improvement, they sell two different brands i believe and then they have like the two types Lexan and Acrylic glass. They have the tools to score and cut the glass there.

I hate scoring glass myself. I took the side window into lowes and measured it on the spot. However I hate to trim it so I just used my angle grinder with a metal cutting wheel and trimmed it. I've used a dremel to cut acylic also. Just the thing with using power tools, it actually melts the glass when your cutting it.

The lanboy air I love to death and the cult following of the LBA group is awesome. Cable management is the only big downfall to the case, I think it's amazing however because it's a modders dream with the endless amounts of configurations, However the support from NZXT is amazing and the features of there cases are really cool like built in fan controlers, on and off switch on case fan led's.

I will also have a third build soon, It will be my first sponsored build. NZXT is providing me with a Phantom 410.

So next month I am going to do two builds going back and forth on which one i'm working on (yeah i'm an fool). One sponsored and one just for me. You would think i'm rich but i'm really not.

I've worked in a plastics shop for nearly 10 years. Let me clear up a bunch of things.

There are 2 types of sheet plastic that frequently get confused, Acrylic and Polycarbonate. Neither are glass, and neither need to be scored to cut.

Plexiglass is a brand name of acrylic. Lexan is a brand name of polycarbonate. Kleenex is a brand of facial tissue, for comparison.

I have lots of information on machining both materials that I can repost here if people would like it, but I've already placed it in two other threads.

Ok well I was hoping to have painted pictures for everyone. but here is stencils layed out.

This was originaly going to be centered on the side of the case and I was planning on using sand colored paint. However I decided a little different design and will be painting this in black.

IMG_20120520_202947.jpg
IMG_20120520_205230.jpg

On top of the pictures you can see the the Shadow Box i'm making on side of the Case.

This is a big surprise for many and it will be a miniature tribute to my late father.

My father was a Vietnam Vet so I figured this would be a small thing that could let me remember him. This mod is mainly for myself as it reminds me of the great man my father was.
There will not be any pictures or anything in the shadow box or anything that says in memory of as that's just not what I wanna read everyday. Instead I have a Name tape with the Family's last name and a US Army Name Tape for the branch my father served in. I don't have a listing of my fathers metals or rank so at this time the shadow box will be lacking some of those details but after some research I will find the information and add to it in time. I do want to note my father did not die in the war, he died last year and it's just been something I think about everyday. I just pretty much miss him. I love you dad.

One more update tonight

IMG_20120520_214915.jpg

I finished mock up of the SSD Mounting and the Holes for the wires have been cutout. The metal piece you see is an automotive tag light which will light up the SSD Drives.

Holes are cutout for wire management and to mount the light now this piece goes into primer
IMG_20120520_232117.jpg

and for the last thing I'm doing tonight.
I gotta get rid of all this copper and silver look. Too Shiny for this build
The heatsink's are copper heatpipe but clash with the whole build, ($2 each on clearance at TigerDirect.com retail store) so I will leave part of the pipe copper and flat black goes the other part of the heatpipe.
What's under the heat sinks is my 8 gig's of Corsair Vengence Ram (the original heatsinks where blue)
IMG_20120520_231310.jpg
IMG_20120520_232110.jpg
IMG_20120520_232733.jpg

More updates tomorrow as the lettering should be done and SSD Mount will begin installation.

Also the index on front page is up to date!
