Can't boot Windows 7 in need of Windows 7 boot disk

Hi, first of all, I am fairly computer challenged so bare with me. I purchased a ASUS laptop less than a year ago and thought I had saved a recovery image to several blank DVD's in case something happened with the computer. Of course, now my computer will not boot up and I discovered that disk 1 of my recovery disks is blank with no files saved on it.

Right now when I turn on my computer it just goes to a black screen with a cursor. When I contacted ASUS they said to access the recovery files on the hard drive by hitting F9 repeatedly after starting the computer up. This would not work.

So....I have no way of starting this computer unless I bring Windows up. I can pay $50 for a ASUS recovery disk or pay to ship it back to them, but surely there is somewhere I can get a recovery disk download for free?

Any help would be appreciated!

You can just put Windows 8 on it for free until you get enough cash together. It will last until Jan 2013

Basically the hard drive has a recovery partition and it needs the specialized disk to put it back to factory settings.

Also you could try typing in the model number and recovery disk into a search engine or maybe find one on a torrent site sine u legally own a copy of Windows.

Otherwise I can't think of another way legally to get it.

Or... you can just install a fresh copy of windows and just install whatever drivers you need. (Windows will find you most of them, the others you can find on Asus's site). You don't need the key, just grab the key off the sticker on the bottom of your laptop

There are legal links to downloading Win 7 from MS through their distribution system Digital River:
