Air cooling
Used for gaming and maybe slight overclocking 4ghz max

You hit 92C at 4GHz? What's your ambient temperature? It sounds like you need better case airflow. I use the stock cooler, and when I played around with 4GHz on my 2500k, I don't even get up to 70C. Not particularly warm or cool ambient--around 70F.

Yikes. Stock coolers won't cut it really. Long periods of time of higher temps will reduce life of your components. I would suggest an aftermarket CPU cooler.

However a one time instance isn't likely to do anything. Just be careful.

I booted my machine up a couple times with the pump on...it turned itself off..I got little black ringlets just outside the barbs.Chip survived biggrin.gif....until I really killed it..via grinder and sandpaper redface.gif

Ditto on 212+. He's not overclocking and that cooler does a hell of a good job even at overclocking being just a tad worse than coolers that cost double.

100C + is Damage potential. 98C the chip will shut off. No damage but don't run at hot. 85C is the max safe temp.
