So the last time I put together a machine was in 2009 on a $600 budget. I think I'm ready for an upgrade.
My main question is in regards to what CPU I should go with. I've been out of the loop for a couple years now, but from what I can tell, Intel is soon coming out with a new Ivy bridge line, with the Haswell bridge line coming out in 2013. I know I want a Haswell, when that time comes. So would it be a better choice to go with a Sandy bridge CPU now (which I would assume will drop a bit in price with the release of Ivy bridge) and save some money, or go for a newer, supposedly better-performing Ivy bridge CPU?
Motherboard recommendations to go with the CPU would be appreciated as well. I'm wiling to spend $500 to $600 on the CPU and motherboard alone, with a somewhat flexible limit for the total cost of the build. Everything else has been more or less picked out already, coming out to a total of around $710. Oh, and this machine will be used mostly for assorted gaming. Diablo III. <3
I'm not the type who needs the absolute best, as soon as it comes out. And I'm not nearly as technical or "into this" as some on OCN are. But shiny new things still make me want them. D;
