Can an SSD increase FPS in an MMO?

Thread Starter
In an mmo city when there are a ton of players around and it takes a while to load everything etc. I know an SSD will speed this up but will it increase FPS? It seems in Tera that when I run into a new area my fps will drop as it loads the new textures of that area. So does it improve FPS at all?
not so much fps, maybe stuttering

Might do, depends on a bunch of things like internet speed, cpu and gpu. It might help with fps, but it definitely help with non-connection based loading times.

It might help to load up models faster but whether the rest of your hardware can handle it is obviously a different matter.

Only keeps your FPS more consistent under explosions and heavy texture loading.

Back when I played WoW, I noticed that it helped eliminate the stuttering and freezeups after zoning or when coming up on a lot of players/content (loading lots of textures). So while it won't improve your FPS after all the textures are loaded, it will prevent your FPS from dropping while loading those textures.

SSDs help for games like WoW, you will load textures faster. I believe Anand did a bench on it, although not significant but it certainly helps.
The primary benefit of the SSD will not be on the fps but the loading side of things, loading into the game, zoning in/out of instances, phasing, etc. I don't think it was Anandtech but Toms that did the SSD/HD comparison and the benefit it had on WoW. Their conclusion was spectacular loading times, little to no benefit to actual game play.
