Anything worth upgrading to?

Hello. I have a Radeon HD5850 running a 5870 bios.

I don't struggle running games, but I was wondering if there was anything that outperformed my current video card while using considerably less power? Thought about the 7850/7870, but the price points and performance really show no incentive for me to even upgrade.

I suppose I should wait?

A 6870 would be comparable in GPU power and uses less power - If you're happy with what you have and don't feel the desire to upgrade, i'd wait for now till the 7 series prices come down.

Nothing wrong with waiting if your card still cuts the mustard for you.
My 5850 bit it, so I'm holding out for either price drops on the 78xx or see what nvidias going to have under the 680 in the coming month.

A 6870 would be a straightup side grade, exactly what you said: comparable.

Why would you throw down $120~$150 for a comparable card...

@OP: I'm in the same position... I was thinking of a 560 ti 448, MSI Twin frzr but after some googling, 570~580 performance might not be worth like $130. (selling my 5850 for $100)

SO I'll wait for price drops on 7xxx & 6xx's. smile.gif I'm guessing you doing the same.

It's slightly weaker than my current setup if I'm not mistaken. Has less power consumption, but it's not a phenomenal jump or at least an upgrade for me.

I'm basically looking for something with a better performance:watt ratio than my current card.

7850/7870 seem to have this, though they're pretty pricy at current market value.

Might wait another gen if nothing amazing comes out. I have hope in nvidia though. 680 is pretty good on the performance:watt side of things. (Cost too much though biggrin.gif)
