I disagree, COD4 and COD:WaW were both brilliant games and they really didn't sell out, the only thing that made them different was that they were multi-platform. If you are talking about the series selling out I'd start with MW2, it was a downgrade from the two previous games.

Near as I can tell he's a console gamers who doesn't understand what makes PC games great but tells us we're getting all the important features associated with a PC. Even though he doesn't know what they are. And they're never implemented properly. If at all.

I actually really enjoyed COD4--a lot. But COD4 definitely had a majority of the "console-oriented" multi-player gameplay that PC-only previous games didn't. Personally didn't care for COD4 multiplayer (I mean, online--but local play with buddies was fun). I enjoyed the single-player story immensely when it came out. But it was sadly the stepping stone away from what felt like the core of the COD games previous, and hence where the selling out began (IMO). The releases after it were sequentially worse.

We were talking about the games in the series that were awesome, and that really only includes CoD and CoD: UO, as none of the other games had better single or multiplayer for that matter.

Cod4 was meh, the single player was ok I guess, but the mutiplayer was complete crap compared to CoD: UO's multiplayer. 60+ players, huge maps, vehicles, tons of custom maps, mods, etc.....

Ehh, I'm not a fan of WW2 games. They've been done over and over again, and modern warfare games are quickly getting to that point of saturation that WW2 games got to. Yes, I've played every CoD game to date. I do like the first and second games. But the third was just awful to me. Then CoD4 came around, and I loved every second of it. It's honestly better than the original and second in my eyes. And I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but I really like MW3 as well. It may be a little more of the same formula, but it's a ton of fun to me.
Hated MW2 and WaW though, don't know why, but I can't play them without getting bored really quickly.

I agree with this post. Expanding your brand doesn't make you a sell out. That mentality isn't really good to have from a business point of view either.
