With a 4GHz oc on my Phenom II im sure it wont be THAT bad (at least good enough for me)

Also that chart is showing performance of a 570, a 7970 performs a bit better anyhow

In CPU limited titles, you could overclock your IMC, it should help.

The first part is true, your CPU is running at 4.013 Ghz, while the graph is comparing the CPUs clocked at 3 Ghz, so you should do better. However, the second part of what you said is not true (though the graph doesn't show how the AMD GPU performs, it might require less CPU power to do the same), as you can see the performance of the GTX 570 does scale up when you pair it with a CPU that has higher IPC, so the CPU appears to be the bottleneck.

I dunno why you'd mess with the IMC, AMD memory controller is crap. Overclock your NB.

Done that biggrin.gif
NB is at 2800MHz, will go for 3000MHz at some stage

Edit: it seems the optimal NB setting for my oc is arround the 2500 mark, I may just lower it and adjust the voltage when i get home from work

Going to back up this graph as well. Used to run AMD X4 at 4.2Ghz with HD 6970 alone. Most game play fine but I knew the FPS is lower than on Intel system. As soon I set myself into this X79 system with HD 6970 alone; games like BF3 FPS is most stable and it is higher by 10FPS at most area than AMD system. For sure this mean most AMD CPU is a bottleneck even if I did deep overclocking up 4.4Ghz on X4 975 once... still cannot beat the Intel system.

Yea I was a bit tight for cash when I built this rig last year (being a student will do that) but for the price i payed for that cpu, it has been fantastic compared to my old core 2 duo.

Im on an am3+ board so the next generation of bulldozer cpu's (if they are worth getting) is certainly a possibility.

I just cant justify spending more money on an intel cpu + mobo and be bothered with the hassle of a re install of windows... again lol
I would rather stick to my current mobo+cpu combo for a little while longer as it serves its purpose quite well

Edit: no longer a student by the way lol, full time job as a computer technician = more money in the bank and i got my diploma yesterday biggrin.gif
