Building My Own "Tube Style" Res. (New Design Build Pics Posted)

I wanted a tube style res for my Desk Mod. But the EK ones are everywhere and the T-Virus style ones are becoming more prevalent as well. So I went ahead and cooked up a design that goes along well with the design of my project as a whole.

Top and bottom will be machined out of acetal. BitsPower fittings. Heat bent tubes.

Got to machining the acetal this afternoon. Now I don't own a cool ass mill or anything. Im doing all this with my wod shop, Table saw, Drill press and a plunge router. (This came back to bite me today. See last pic.) And some outside acquired skills from over the years.

Started with two 3/4"blocks.

Threading one block, countersinking the other for the Cap screws that will hold the two halves together.

Tapped G1/4" Holes for the tubes and the fill hole.

So I got the machining done on the top section. Just need to chamfer the edges ans fine sand all the tooling marks off the surfaces.

Had a setback when i went to do the cavity on the other half of the bottom... The damn router bit wasnt tightened down enough and it walked its way out. Straight through the whole block... mad.gif

And @ aadk. It is going to have the inlet and the outlet on the bottom. So i only need one hole for filling on the top. Its pretty much custom made to my build. No need for a tee fitting or anything... Just a plug when I'm done filling it.

Oh I get it. Sorry, didn't fully understand the concept when I first saw it. I thought the bottom would be an outlet and a drain. Good job though, can't wait to see your desk mod move on as well thumb.gif

Moving on with what I can till my new acetal gets here...

Bent up the tubes!!!

The black is from running the tube through a sooty flame to temper the pyrex.

The template im using to make sure they are bent the same way so the twisted design will work.
