could use some help with folding with a new gtx 570

here is the issue im having. the GTX 570 folds great, better than i thought actually but unlike my HD 6870 that it replaced, while folding it causes everything else to run extremely slow. as im typing this i can see the lag of the letters coming up on the screen its so slow. scrolling in my internet browser takes forever as well, i dont even dare to try playing a game at the same time like i did with the 6870.

has anyone else had an issue like this and maybe know how to fix it? i havent found anything like this in all my searches so i hope its just something simple like the new drivers i updated. im going to roll them back and see if that helps but any help from everyone here is much appreciated. thanks

just rolled the drivers back to 263.09 and it helped a lot but its still a little jumpy.

I've had this happen to me a few different times on a few different machines. Some times I was able to fix it by just completely wiping the current drivers by using driver sweeper in safe mode and then reinstalling but other times it took a complete OS reinstall.

well that sucks. i just tried wiping them and reinstalling the latest drivers and its doing the same thing. i did try playing starcraft 2 though at the same time as folding and it doesnt seem to have an issue but somehow the internet browsing doesnt work fluidly. typing in a normal text document works though. this is some strange stuff

Oh forgot to mention to turn off hardware acceleration in your browser, Flash and Silverlight. That probably won't solve your problem because if it's anything like what I've had then it's happening on desktop too, but it's still just a good habit.

yeah it does happen on the desktop too when opening, closing, and moving windows. what could cause it to have problems with something so simple but then play sc2 and fold with no issue?

Not exactly sure, but my guess is the built up remnants of an old OS that has been used for a while with multiple different GPU drivers and OCing programs each making the software environment for folding a little less ideal each time.
