[engadget] Digital Storm launches Aventum range with Cryo-TEC cooling system - Page 2

The cooling is fantastic but if I were to drop 8k on a system I probably wouldnt go with one of these.

Case looks like trash Imo, flimsy and cheap looking. Side ports are tough, especially if you plan on having a wall / anything else on that side of the computer, or if you want to have it on your right side.

Cooling system looks nice, and I'm going to assume that their logo etched into the frost was done for aesthetics at the photo shoot and isn't always like that (at OCN we tend to be the kind of people who get mad at waterblocks with a tiny convex curve, imagine how pissed we would get if that portion legitimately didn't get cold).

Where can I buy just the waterblock? I don't think they realize how much larger of a market a $200 enthusiast waterblock has than a $4k computer.

In all honesty, the fully-decked out system is not a bad price for what you're getting.

The baby in me is still scared of TEC for constant use. redface.gif

There was a 2nd thread about this. In that source it shows the TEC getting nice and frosty, but it says that the CPU socket is entirely insulated, so it's not a problem. smile.gif

actually i made sure to include that in the op

To demonstrate the sheer power of the Cryo-TEC system, we let it sit for 10 minutes. A thick layer of frost began to form as the thermo-electric cold plates dropped the temps on the copper side below 0°C! Don't worry, the CPU socket is fully insolated from condensation.
