Need Help Overclocking My AMD Phenom II x2 545

So at the moment I'm kind of stuck with this processor, and I wanna make it perform as well as it can until I build my new PC. I've tried unlocking the other two cores on it but they are not exactly what you would consider stable.

I'm using some random Cooler Master CPU cooler a family member gave me, but I was having problems with overheating for some reason so I took the side panel off my case and leaned a giant box fan against the side of it - haven't over heated since biggrin.gif

I'm new to overclocking, but I tried anyways.I got it to what my bios said was 3400MHz. CPU-Z told me something similar, and Core Temp says both cores are running at 15° C.

I wanna overclock more, but I get an error at start-up saying my system failed to start due to overclocking whenever I put it above 225 MHz. But someone also told me that I can overclock it more if I adjust the voltage, which I'm scared to do. What voltages do I change and what should I change them to if I wanna get higher clock speeds?

Here is what CPU-Z is looking like atm:

390

ok, so what is the mobo, what is the ram, what is the cooler, and what is the videocard? normally Asus boards are good for unlocking and overclocking. without seeing anything, i would suggest finding the lowest stable voltage on everything stock and increase from there. wink.gif and try not to go over 1.5 volts also. Good luck! thumb.gif

I'm running a Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz, and a Radeon HD 4850 (512MB 256-bit GDDR3). I don't know exactly what the CPU cooler is but I'm pretty sure it's a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (but don't forget the giant box fan leaned against the side of my case).

turn off the caps, fill in your rig specs on your profile, put your rig in your signature, and make a new thread.

Honestly you should have no problems with that processor. I am currently using an intel G540 and only the integrated graphics and playing BC2 1080p low settings no problem. Stock might even be okay with that cpu.

For overclocking it kinda depends on the motherboard you are using im sure there is a guide on overclocking that cpu or 550/555 if I find it ill repost here
