Geforce 470 overlocking and cooling questions.

I have a stock geforce 470. Im not sure what to make of this. If i leave my core clock at stock 607 and put my memory clock up to 1800. The overclock is stable and fine while being benched.

If i put my core clock up to 820 which is stable if i leave mem clock at stock, Its fine.

If i Put both core to 820 and mem to 1800 i get artifacts?

I dont really understand this? Do i need to get a new cooler or is what im experiencing a normal issue amongst us overclockers?

O and can anyone tell me how many slots the zotac geforce 470 amp edition cooler is? Seen one on ebay and fancy putting in a bid and winning it for the right price to go sli.

820 seems a little too high to be 'stable' without adding a few mV. There's your problem.

Not unless you already have your card maxed out at 1087v.

If you're trying to push a 820mhz overclock on a 470 with stock volts, that's your problem. tongue.gif try upping the voltage and see where that gets you. thumb.gif

Yeah, you're going to have to flash a modified BIOs to get the voltage up to 1.21v.

It's a very simple and easy process, and if you can tame the heat, you can get some nice OC's. But I wouldn't recommend doing it on air though, highly recommend you being on water before you try pushing that much juice into your card.

Have you downloaded Afterburner Beta? It allows you to adjust voltage and also up the clocks. You just need to add something to the text file it comes with.

My sli 470's were some of my favourite cards.

Were do i get the beta version and what do i need to modify. Im getting a zotac geforce 470 soon. And im slapping a 3 slot cooler into my stock 470. i have alot fans blowing air in and around my geforce 470 which seems to have killed alot of the heat.

You won't need the Beta of Afterburner. Shoot me a PM.

http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

for the beta version, left hand side. and you have to edit a text file to enable unofficial overclocking. Let me look for a thread that explains it.

EDIT

or let Dustin help,lol.

Good luck with it. smile.gif
