don't see the reason why anything will be on fire. specs are within the range

You could put a Q9xxx series on your P45 board nd have a faster system than your locked or unlocked 960t. The two extra cores won't do squat for gaming, and Core 2 Quad are faster clock for clock than Phenom II.

On top of that, your 775 board is better made for overclocking, the 3+1 board you have that 960t on, like others said, isn't made to handle the power load and the VRMs are probably already throttling your performance.

my intel q8400 is overclocked at 3.2, but DDR2 is slowing me down.

I see no lags on my new amd now after I disable the cool and quiet thing on the board.

price is soo different.lol
I bought a 500gb seagate drive for 60 bucks,
mobo+cpu for $120 in microcenter
DVD RW for 20 dollars
$15.00 Dragon case
All brand new.
Total out to be $215.00

Got a 4gb stick DDR3 G-Skill , TT power supply 500w, and a creative sound card 5.1 SB0090 from the past

and Now I have 2 systems instead of one.
I think it is worth every penny I spend.

Maybe later I will add a couple gb of ram, but I have creative 5.1 sound card that needs KX driver, 32bit windows is my best choice

i think your CPU is "Throttling" that"s y even a overclock CPU is under performing due to over stressing of the VRMs redface.gif

There are many things you need to consider before Overclocking or Unlocking as other members may have already told you that.

I bought the 960t just yesterday and immediately Oc'ed it to 4.1 Ghz under Hyper TX3 but currently on 1.5v which I should get it down. Prime runs stable.

Mine being a BE it has an unlocked multiplier so if yours to is a BE just raise the multiplier to speed you want , you may need to adjust core voltage , NB , memory. If your board supports higher TDP above 95w than unlocking more cores should be safe, if I unlock all cores it says "Unknown Processor" as my board supports only 95w IIRC.

Go step by step to OC and find the fastest and stable speed and volts.
