New Graphic Setup For May 15th Need Advise - Page 2

if you don't mind spending $...then of course the GTX 680

if you want the cheapest way possible for the best performance....then pick up a GTX 570, they are super cheap used or now they are all on sale in stores.

that way you can get a SSD, which will maximize your everyday computing multiple folds.

SLI 570 ~ />GTX 680 > GTX 590 > 7970

Why? Just like to tinker?

If you want to play Diablo III on a 1920x1080 monitor, then you should SLI cheap video cards, like a couple of 560s or 550tis, because then you're not spending as much to just to tinker around with SLI while experiencing the exact same graphical performance as a single-card solution but with more hassle.

If you want to play Shogun 2: Total War on 5760x1080 or something like that, then you want to buy a couple of 680s or 7970s, because the extra graphics oomph will, you know, make a difference rather than being the equivalent of lighting $100 bills on fire.

Well if the 3 monitors are just for work use, while only using a single 1920x1080 monitor for gaming, I'd buy a 7850 (non-680 Nvidia can't handle 3 monitors, but AMD can with an adaptor - might be some way to do 3 monitors with Z68 onboard graphics and a Nvidia card though, not sure).

For 5760x1080 gaming, that's a tough question. I'd think the 680 would be best for future SLI, for sheer graphics power. But at triple-monitor gaming, it's not doing better than the AMD 7970 line, possibly in part due to a smaller amount of VRAM (which normally doesn't matter so much). So I'd probably wait for one of the 4gb RAM 680 versions if I wanted to go Nvidia for triple-monitor gaming. Possibly pre-order one if they ever come out, given how out of stock the 680s have been.

Since the 680s can do 3 monitors, you can just have one card until you feel like buying another (which is good, since each one will be like $550-600)
