What does it HONESTLY take to run BF3 on Ultra 120+ FPS

Thread Starter
I am wondering what kind of combo you need to be running bf3 on ultra 1920x1080 with 120+ fps. I am rocking a BenQ XL2410T and need the smoothness of 120+ fps. My current setup can only do this on medium settings at 1920x1080. So what do I really need to achieve this. Couple months down the road I will be upgrading to 3 BenQ XL2410T's and running surround. Should I be getting 2 680's? Look at my rig below and let me know what you think. I will also be upgrading my CPU to a i5 2500K.

Hmm... with MSAA and AA? Completely maxed out?

I'm thinking a 580 SLI OCed might do the trick... at least the 3GB model.

God and the lord Christ to get 120fps on ultra. thumb.gif

But really wait for the non-reference 680 Kepler cards to hit the market with 4gb of vram.
Honestly, I doubt two gtx 680's (or 7970's for that matter) will be able to keep a minimum framerate of 120 fps in BF3 on ULTRA with EVERYTHING maxxed out.

You might be looking at 4 if you need a minimum framerate of 120fps. That is if the drivers are optimized for four cards yet.

Although you would probably average around 100 fps with two cards. Of course that is with dips below 100 fps.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 SLI and AMD Radeon HD 6970 CFX were both able to play Battlefield 3 Multiplayer at 2560x1600 with FXAA High, 16X AF, and all Ultra in-game graphics options with HBAO selected. They performed 12-16 average FPS above our 60 average FPS goal with maxed settings and were both enjoyable.
Source

If 580SLi averaged 70fps, and 680s are 30% faster, your still looking at 90-100 fps average.

/Edit, whoops missed the resolution difference. I guess if you drop res down, the 680s will be close. Maybe with 2 overclocked 680s you could do it!

An Ivy bridge CPU, and probably 2 GTX680's overclocked, and some 8gb of 1866 DDR3 ram.
