Give it a shot without vsync thumb.gif

Well anyone will confirm that vsync enabled on the same graphics cards but on a 60hz monitor vs a 120hz monitor is totally different. And I use it for a couple reasons - I dont see any input lag, and also at many screens (like the bf3 respawn menu, while scoped, or in jets/helos) my framerates shoot to the 150's or 60's because it is easier for the gpu's to render. With this increased framerate comes a spontaneous bout of about 5 more degrees of heat, and much louder fans. Ill keep my vsync thumb.gif

I love all the people giving advice who have no experience with getting 120fps giving garbage saying 4GB or Quad-SLI, at 1920x1080 everything maxed I hit just over 1620mb, With 2 GTX 580's (Lightnin Xtreme & Classified Ultra) @ 925mhz I was able to mostly stay over 120 but the odd drop under and the high was 190. As well I noticed I need my 3930k @ at least 4.4 or the gpu's would sometimes dip to %70 percent usage.

2x 2GB GTX 680's would have no trouble at 1920x1080.

at 5760x1080 you are in a whole new ball game, but if you are going to wait down a couple months down the road you should be looking out for the "GTX 685"

In B2K maps with full 64 players?

I find that odd how an overclocked 7970 on ultra + 4msaa would get roughly 50-70 average here. Where a single 6970 would get less than that, close but less.

assuming my old 7970 had a 55-60fps average I would be looking at 120FPS average with perfect 100% scaling

Yet somehow your 6970's seem to not only get same single card numbers, but also magically have greater than 100% scaling.

I think people are overlooking the importance of the CPU when looking for 120Hz. Because if the CPU can't do its game related calculations per frame at well under 1/120th of a second, then by definition no card will do the job.

I assume you want 120Hz with vsync enabled, which then puts even more pressure on always staying above 120Hz.

Just my 2 cents.

I think a 3930k@4.5GHz, 16GB DDR3 2400, 3x GTX 680 4GB ver, and a 120Hz monitor will do.

Whats your cpu at? Also when the max says 201, I assume that is in the pre/post game lobby as that is what it automatically goes to then.
