Lowest 7970 I've seen here is about $490 a powercolor, and the 680 is $667 an MSI and an ASUS.

q:Why are graphic cards priced more than reference prices?
ans-because of the import taxes and other duties..

q:why should there be import taxes and other duties..?
ans: so that the government can collect the taxes and compensate for the competition and market loss of domestic players caused by the introduction of foreign product typical example- taxes for cars..

q: but is there a domestic player from any country who either manufactures graphic card or third party companies which sell in other than USA, china,Taiwan, hongkong ?

ans: NOOOOO

Q: THEN WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE HAVE IMPORT TAXES AND OTHER DUTIES?

It could be as simple as a company having a relationship (in the case of India) with Tata or Reliance or possibly having some domestic subsidiary of their own. A technical writing center or call center or regional distributor.

Singapore isn't that well off either.

Around 700 USD for a GTX680. Can imagine how much a GTX680 Lightning will cost.

The 7970 isn't that bad then. Most of them still go for 550 up in the US. 680 is 500, but of course it's sold out everywhere. You can always shell out 600-700 on eBay thumb.gif

Yeah, this really needs to be moved. It's weird, usually the news nazi's would have posted about 10 times about it and have it moved.

These are one of my suppliers prices here in Australia, so add 10% to the first price.

That's 608-682 buy price, then you have to add on the mark up for your business unless you want to make no money. RRP is 799.99.
