I think my SSD is bad?

Thread Starter
I built a new computer last night all went good. I loaded windows on to SSD it went all the way through and went to the desktop. when it got to desktop it sat there for about 30-45 sec then it shut down. Now it acts like its in a boot loop but nothing shows up on the monitor, no MOBO splash screen nothing unless i have a windows disk in. The MOBO leds will flash like it is booting but then it quits and does the same thing again.

try a few things- enable pll overvolt, disable marvell and jmicron controllers and disable full screen bios splash

450
450

just so you can see where those settings are changed at. Also, can you verify the windows install was done on AHCI and that the mobo is set to AHCI mode for the ssd?

Make sure your K/B is connected in the normal USB 2.0 port.

Under boot options make sure the SSD is the default boot option.

Update your UEFI to the newest version: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68VGEN3/#download

updated bios to 3201 and it is still doing the same thing. i tried to reinstall windows again and it got to the desktop and i could move my mouse around go to control panel or where ever i wanted but about 45 sec after desktop came up it just randomly shut down and then goes through the loop. I tested my psu its good i took out memory and tried different combos with those to no avail im running out of ideas on what it could be

Definitely doesn't seem to be a issue with the SSD to me. Maybe the CPU is overheating. Are the CPU and RAM timings stock, no overclock?

Is the pump on the H100 working and the fans are working?
Thread Starter
Yes the CPU and RAM are stock right now. In the bios it says that the CPU is at 18 deg c. The fans on the radiator are running and im pretty sure the pump is also but im not for sure on how to check for sure other than trying to hear the water running through it.

I had a wierd problem like this once with a crosshair 5 formula. The first board I recieved was a bum board. For some reason It would randomly crash through the windows install, and any time I pushed a key on the keyboard it would crash, or plug a mouse in.

So you think i should call up newegg and get a RMA on the mobo? I thought it was mobo at first too, then i called Asus and they told me that they thought it was something to do with my SSD or PSU.

I think that is a KNOWN problem with that mobo. I think it has something to do with the XMP profile or something. I don't think it is your SSD.
