Ok, so its not a big deal, but wierd sometimes. I boot past the bios splash, but the screen stays blank for a few seconds, the windows sound plays, then I see my desktop after that. This only started since getting my 120hz monitor/using dvi-d cable. Any thoughts?

The monitor needs to communicate with your PC it's resolution, refresh rate, monitor info, driver whatever ect. It communicates using a I2C bus, ( DDC2B ) which is really sllllooooowwww. It's a really old standard. Max speed of 0.0001 GHz

Your new monitor probably has more info to communicate with the PC, and I2C is painfully slow. The monitor doesn't light up until it's done communicating over the I2C bus.

That's my best guess.
