Quality for Price : AMD vs Intel - Page 3

I'd still recommend the K version, it's typically not much more than the non K version. You can run it stock for a while, and if you get bored/want a little more power, get an aftermarket cooler, and try your hand at overclocking.

Sandy Bridge has been pretty easy to OC in my experience, you can get a quick n dirty 4.3-4.5ghz OC out of most 2500k's with minimal effort.

I would definitely get the 2500k. Great performance now, even better once you decide to overclock it.

Depending on the situation and hardware in the system, Zosma CAN be 90% if not more performance in some games, but it all depends on the application. SCII? CIV5? Skyrim? i5 will beat 960T hands down @ stock. BF3? you will hardly see a difference between the two chips.
With a $1000 budget, there is no reason not to go Intel. If his budget was ~$500, yeah an i3 or AM3 chip would be better, but not for $1000.
Only thing I can see that is worth waiting for Ivy. Which is expected to be a 20% increase in CPU and a 100% increase in integrated GPU (nobody really cares about this part though)

Show me proof that a stock 2500K will beat a 4.3 Zosma in whatever..

Not much difference here..Is that the Intel @ a whole Ghz more? :thinking.gif:

http://www.hwbot.org/submission/2262412_

Owait..It's .300 ms after 1 ghz more overclock..IMO..that's not a lot of gain for 1 ghz more.

here's more..again..the Intel is clocked MUCH higher..eh amd has 2 free cores working ,too.But they're free..and $100 less than a 2500K..not to mention a decent OCing intel board $160-ish

yes on mobo..
no on gpu...Msi or EVGA or sapphire there..
no on ssd..Crucial m4 or Samsung 830 there..
no on RAM.. get these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Memory+%28Desktop+Memory%29-_-SAMSUNG-_-20147096 They'll go however high your chipset/cpu allows them.

Any chance I can sway you to a 960T? biggrin.gif If not ..It's all good..2500K Is one of the best things since sliced bread.IMO 960T is the best chip AMD has produced to date

OP, definitely get that Samsung RAM Schmuckley linked to, I'm thinking about buying some just for fun, and because it OC's like mad. His other suggestions are right on too.

I was looking at an XFX for the Graphics Card. But I'll check the other brands too, just finding them in stock is my issue. Now with the AMD Phenom II X4-6 960T Zosma, How would that compare to an i5 2500 or 2500K?

X4-960T is meant to compete against i3-2100, not i5-2500. Now if you can unlock it to X6 and OC it then it can get close to i5-2500.

For GPU wise, skip XFX and go look for Sapphire/MSI/HIS.
