I only wanted to add a few things:

The D14 is a hell of an air-cooler and it suits to almost every mid tower case but you definitely can't do a nice P/P H100 setup (with four fans) without case modifications in many cases.

You guys were saying that the two of them have pretty much similar temps but with a noticeable noise difference.

However I can assure you there's even more. Swapping the stock fans with some two blue led R4's and a central TY-140 (yes, a third fan too and Noctua's gonna send you the extra clips for free) like I did:

450

is gonna give you about 5°C extra performance in full load. cool.gif

I did that for the different look of the cooler since is the way I like it and right now I'm enjoying the silence too, keeping the fans downvolted and set to run at 40-75% (P/P fans) and at 60-85% (central fan), the values are intended for idle to full load fan speed. wink.gif

Do you want even more power?
Do you wanna cool down to more than 10°C than the stock D14? Is the noise really not concerning to you and you're able to add some serious fans ?

450

This is not a game, don't do it at home except you're an expert. biggrin.gif

I would rather get the underperforming h100 than do that setup you posted bro, seriously.

Eh... this was established a dozen times before. The NH-D14 is the better choice. There is less then a 4C temperature difference between the two in all real world benchmarks. The H100 does a better job at cooling but thats only with the fans at 100% (which are noisy as hell). The D14 holds its own and is so quite you can barely hear it inside your system (plus no potential leaks, bubbles, and will outlast the H100).

(in relation to each other). so the HXX might outperform the Genesis at 2000rpm but will lose @ 1000rpm.

The fan speed isn't the one who decides the static pressure it produces bro, it is the angle of attack of the fan blades, it can be either optimized for airflow or static pressure by changing the angle of the blades

If you refer to the last one, it's obvious i was kidding. I wouldn't go for a similar setup either. How about mine, the first one? smile.gif

Pumps can fail air coolers don't.

Not worth watercooling unless going full loop IMO, because then you can cool GPUs as well.

i still prefer the underperforming and costly and leaking prone h100, than the gigantic air cooler hanging on the mobo.

you completely missed the point. It was a hypothetical situation using identical fans on both coolers.

In relation, a H100 works better with high Pressure fans, while a genesis will work better with low pressure fans. Matter of fact a Genesis will give you decent results at stock clocks wthout any fan at all, where the H100 will completely collapse.
Therefore a Genesis is the better option if you want a low noise setup with silent fans unless they will release CLC with a fin design more geared towards lower pressure/noise fans, or better yet a 140/280 rad or something like that.

'I guess we will have to wait for the Cooler Master Eisberg for a decent CLC.
