Yes, I clearly don't see any differnce in style.. as others have said, the cartoony style has always existed in WOW and is in fact one of the selling points. It FITS with the game, with WC3, and is often more attractive than the attempts at realism other games have tried.

Sure, they have a deal for like 2 days a year where they give a decent deal on expansions, but unless you're in the loop, you'll never really hear about it.

2 days a year? Try several weeks, a month even. When the game is released, Vanilla and all expansions except the previous one all go down to very low prices. Last year, it was all 5$ up until Wrath, which itself was 50% off, I think? And this is around the time of the release of Cata. So it's just a matter of waiting for the right time.

They existed in warcraft 3 as a character (that has been occasionally referred to in quests in the barrens in WOW), chen stormstout. The fact is, Blizzard has outright stated in interviews that the single most requested feature in WOW, ever since the first april fools joke that suggested they'd be a playable race, was to ACTUALLY HAVE THEM AS A PLAYABLE RACE.

This.

Guess you just have to play WC3 which is the way I knew about the pandaren, but guess if you also read the books.

The idea has existed since before that. It was made by Samwise Didier for his... nephew? Son? Something like that. People at blizzard loved the idea, it was included in several places in warcraft 3, most noticeably chen stormstout and a few other spots...

The idea outdates the movie by quite a bit. Warcraft 3 is from 2002 and had it back then~

If you hear a story about a War Panda, you expect him to be large, ferocious, angry, out of control... But at peace with his own people! This just looks like a children's game!

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?rtgqn1

Again, the visual style is no different from anything we've already seen in WOW. Hell, the gnomes still look more ridiculous to me than anything else Blizz has created.

Having played the Pandaria beta, the vibe is very, very asian. The themes are stuff you see in such movies and all that jazz. The ideas are not new, true. But also not exclusive to kung fu panda, not child oriented either (dying land spirits of the earth, etc etc. A common theme in many, many other places that aren't child oriented). Blizz is simply adapting ideas to WOW.

Everything taken as a whole over the past few years concerning Blizzards direction with WoW leads to an obvious conclusions; Pandas are a stopgap. LFRs, drastically dumbed down talent system, aging graphics, inability to balance PvP (or Ret paladins), and the slow death of 25man raiding caused me to cancel my 6 year subscription 2 months ago. Resubbing just to play a panda, and deal with constant incoming nerfs (and forum whining) to the monk class over the course of the xpac as I deal with horribad casuals after being forced into 10man content is not my cup of tea. Forget the stupid pokemon system. What's next? My Little Pony ****?

Pandas were considered for the Alliance race in Burning crusade. Right from Blizz's mouth (unless you're one of those who believe they constantly lie...). The game is nearing 8 years of age, it's natural that people are tired. I don't think anything blizz could have released, even if it hadn't been pandas, could have satisfied the playerbase. Simply pandering ( ha ha i am so punny) to the demands of the public (most requested feature: pandarens) seems to be getting flak... Typical playerbase *****ing about what they're asking for.

As for the rest:

Blizz can fit anything they want into the lore, really. Silithid? Never existed prior to vanilla WOW. Draenei? Never existed either. Valkyr, etc etc etc... list goes on.

Personally, I really don't care that Panada's are in the game. As you brought up there are already ridiculous races that are already playable. The tauren (cows), undead which makes no sense lore wise since they cannot reproduce, gnomes that look like children, wolfs (worgens), and space goats (draenei). Plus the community did demand Blizzard to add them as a real race in the warcraft universe and begged Blizzard to make them playable all the way back in 2003 when Blizzard released them as an April Fools joke. They got what they asked for and now people whine and complain which I find humorous.

With that said, I wish they would of added another non fury race personally. The ethereal's would of been cool and I hope in the next expansion they add them as a playable race.

There's still plenty of room for adding races. I would love playing the naga, myself, and that's just one of so many races that I've lost count of.

And how would you tell them apart, the number of bandages on their "faces"?

Stand back and stare...

When GW2 lands, Blizzard's MMO will get so overwhelmed that they'll have to go to a microtransaction system with a pay-to-win model to keep in business rolleyes.gif

@Nixuz: You must have not played GW2.

Let me tell you it is, BY FAR, the best MMO I've ever seen.

And yes, I thought WoW was good. But having played GW2, it looks like a child's work.

It destroys WoW's PvE without any effort, WoW's siege system looks like crap compared to GW2's, and well, PvP... Let's better not talk about it, because it'd make you want to commit suicide.

Seconded. I've also had some hands-on with GW2, and i've played WoW since 2004.

GW2 is by far superior. In every way, both PVE and PVP. I was a huge WoW fanboy until I started following GW2.. WoW just seems so bland in comparison. It was great for it's time, but the standard MMO mechanics are bland and boring now. With WoW's numbers already going down the tubes at a steady pace... GW2 is going to put a even larger dent in it.. expansion or no expansion.

April 10.. GW2 pre-purchase begins and allows access to beta weekends. By the time this comes out, people will be hooked on GW2. It's a safe bet to say this expansion will be WoW's worse selling expansion. It's still using the same old quest mechanic systems.

Gamestop just had a sale on everything WoW. so now you cannot tell me that this is a rip off. Total with tax for WoW, Wrath & Cata = $53.59

World of Warcraft Battlechest: $19.99 + you get Wrath for FREE

Cata: $29.99

Anyways I really like being a Panda its something new. It does need some work but I am sure they will have it fixed up by then.
