A decision to make (best card for $300/Headset + RAM)

So, my brother is going to the US this weekend. And I was wondering if I should get a new card.

I was really looking forward to a 7850, but the benchs didn't convince me. So then I looked at the 7870, but it kinda gets out of my budget, and I don't know if my not-well-known PSU can handle it.

The other thing is, I don't know if I should keep my current card (6850) and spend the money on the Corsair Vengeance 1500 Headset and a new kit of 8GB RAM and other cool stuff.

Battlefield 3 looks gorgeous on ultra, but my 6850 suffers.

If your PSU is truly a 700W, it can handle any single GPU solution (even if you get a 7850, your system should only be drawing ~450W I believe). Even a bad 700W PSU should be able to handle 60% load...

You could always consider another 6850 for Crossfire... and again, if your PSU is good, 700W is more than enough.

I would suggest at least 8GB of RAM... did me wonders with BF3... I was running at 4GB and loading between levels took FOREVER... then I went 16GB (it was cheaper overall) and between level loading became faster. I'd also suggest a SSD boot drive to also boost speeds. I for one wouldn't spend that much money on a headset, but that's just me... I'd just get a nice Audio Technica or Senns and buy a cheap mic (if you want to talk... i dont)

My motherboard doesn't support CrossFire and I wouldn't want to go there either (I'm not a dual-gpu guy).

That's why I want the RAM. BF3 loading times are eternal. Everyone's telling me that 8GB will solve that.

Lol, I want an SSD, but my budget is tight. So that's not an option.

I'm kinda thinking I may get the 7850 and the RAM kit. But would I get a better GPU for the same price as the 7850?

How much is the 7850? And it's a good GPU. Unless you can get a 570 or 580 for cheap (used only since stores will still keep near MSRP prices for now)

$250 MSRP. Non-reference around $280.

So, is it worth the transition: 6850 ---- 7850?
