What should I OC my i5 2500k to? - Page 2

Youd have to purposely make an attempt to destroy a modern chip to damage it.

There are a LOT of OCing guides out there. Also... go fill in your system specifications. Most motherboards nowadays (Asus, Asrock and MSI, at least) should have a button or a BIOS setting that you can click that'll OC you to ~ 4.0-4.2GHz... Then go from there (that's how i did mines). I just clicked the OC genie, it got me to 4.2. Then I went in, changed the multiplier to 45... and 4.5GHz 6 hour prime stable. Tried 4.6 and higher, but it wasnt stable and I'm too lazy to go do it myself... Then again, those "auto-OCing" buttons tend to give too much voltage than required... so if you want to be safe, you can do it yourself. just my two cents

4.7-4.8 seems about average with a 2500k.

Also I would do 12 hours stable, I was 8 hours stable and would fail WUs while folding.

So could I just use this picture as an OC guide or should I look at more in-depth ones?

It's just good reference on where you should be voltage wise. Just make sure you are running Prime95 for several hours before thinking you are stable. Use CPU-z and Realtemp to monitor load voltage and temps.
