Voltage is to increase stability at higher clocks.

At the stock voltage, you want to see how high the clocks can go before you become unstable. No reason to touch the voltage unless you want a higher overclock, and your GPU is unstable.

Increase it as needed (when you become unstable) as temps allow (stay below about 85C) and within a range you are comfortable with (1.15v to 1.175v should be plenty).

Well you have the classifed ultra, which is clocked rather high.

So 1st step is to increase your fan speed to 100%, noisy i know but bear with it a little bit. Increase the volts to the highest value1.1somthing. But with this cards you can get away with 1.2 (max "safe" air). Since your card is already @ 900 mhz i suggest increasing 5-10mhz increments.

Seewhat the card MAXS out under 100%fan and max volts and start to go down, and see where you are.

^ This is the right way, start from the bottom up.

Can 1.175v be enough for OC'd GPUS AND an OC'd CPU?

Has nobody explained that to you yet? The GPU voltage is different than the CPU voltage, you are not applying the same voltage to each. The GPU voltage you will set in something like MSI Afterburner, whereas the CPU voltage will be set in the BIOS. The CPU and GPU are completely separate parts of your computer.

Care to explain a little bit? I didnt say increase the clocks and pull down, i said increase the fan speed to 100% and ramp up the v and go up 5-10mhz. Then see where the limit is and put the fan back on auto and see where you become stable/low noise/nice temps...

Jobesky they are different, and neither affect the other. The volts ur changing inside windows using evga precision, or msi AB is gpu related. They are seperate and dont affect each other.

There is no reason to change the voltage until you have an unstable GPU. The card could be a great overclocker and he could dial in an overclock that is satisfactory with out changing the voltage. Depending on what your goals are, you don't always have to crank up the volts.

If you can get to where you want, your target overclock (10%-20% whatever it may be), you can save some life on your GPU and some heat by keeping the voltage as low as possible.
