Overclocking 2 GTX 580 Classified Ultras - Page 4

When I was in the BIOS to OC my CPU a couple days ago, I noticed my voltages were fluctuating between 1.5 and 1.8. That's probably bad, right? If I have to change the voltage, what should I change it to and what else will I have to change?

When using an Offset voltage and intel speedstep, your CPU will adjust its speed and voltage to the load that is on your computer at that time. Prime95 will show your full load speed and voltage, but if your computer is idle, or not running at 100%, you voltages/clock speed will be adjusted by your motherboard to what is needed.

You need to be more specific, which voltages where they?

I think it was the core voltage. When I just checked a minute ago, it said it was around 1.3 something. Is that okay?

1.3-1.33 is fine for a 4.4ghz overclock.

So I ran the Heaven demo. After about 5 minutes it just... shut off. I Put my core clocks on both GPUs to 977and forgot what the shader clocks were. The screen just went black but I could still hear the music, and my fan profile defaulted. I had to hard shut down my computer. I thought my cards were broken. guiltysmiley.gif

With everything near maxed I was getting around 120 FPS.

Did you work you way up to 977? Using small increments?

This was a typical sign of instablity. You should be able to CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and kill the Unigine process and get your screen back. You will still want to restart every time this happens.

No, the guy above said to do 75-100mhz increments. Probably should have listened to you, though.

Ok, go back and reread my posts on how to overclock. start with 50mhz, then slowly work you way up.

What could it be?!?!??!?!?!??!!?

I'm sorry, but this will be the last post I make on this thread, you seem unwilling to read posts in their entirety and I don't think overclocking is for you.

The reason the screen goes back is because the video card driver crashes. The reason for this is that your video card(s) are unstable at the current clock and voltage.

Your cards either need a voltage increase, or a clock decrease.

Good luck.

Gee, how helpful. Thanks, bud. rolleyes.gif

I promise I've read every post in this thread. If I was unwilling to, why would I make this thread? Why is overclocking not for me? Because I ask alot of questions, don't get things right the first time, and becaus eit seems like I didn't read your posts?

Some people, man. Some people.
