If you want to future proof with AMD, you have 2 choices:
FX-8120
X6 1045T (/1055T, whichever)
On a per-core basis, Bulldozer is a weak chip. Getting a 4 core bulldozer is silly, especially if you want to future proof.
As for APUs, they're not going to catch up with dual 6850s anytime soon.

I cld always go with the quad for now and buy a new CPU in the future when prices drop. I just am a bit antsy and want a new computer NOW.

What if I just dropped a 9600 quad-core in my sig rig???

later this year thier is a 6 core apu 3.8 ghz boosts to 4.1 and its a black edition look at this board its a 8+2 phase board will handle being over clocked and will handle 64gigs of ram

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131765

it more then likly will handle the Trinidy chip you can get a 6650 bpu for around 60 to 70.00 a 80 now your crossfired

this apu for now

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106002
for ram

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460

for 360 dollars you have something that will way out perform what you have now and your ready when Trinity drops all you need is the APU you have 2 6850 to drop in for a tri cross fire

Phenom 1 (which is the 9600 you refer to) was a big fail in general, so I would not recommend it.
Waiting for better prices is gonna be tricky. There will be nothing released in the class of CPus that you want, so there will be no reason for them to drop price significantly, especially since it's already pretty low.

But I don't understand the problem.. you said you have a $300 budget for mobo/cpu, and I'm suggesting one to you. Here Or this board, for lower price.

And please don't listen to trucker, he has no idea what he's talking about. You can tell by him mentioning tri-firing 6850 with an APU, which is silly. Also, his selling point on a motherboard is that it supports 64 gb of ram..... what? Unless you do serious video editing or run a server, you wont need more than 8 GB. Look at people's sig rigs. You'll rarely find more than 8gb of ram.

If you don't believe me, go on AMD sub forums and ask there.
