Sad thing is that had nothing to do with hackers. It was a bug that was found by normal players and spread like wildfire.

All items are server side now, as is AI and all that, ect, whatnot. It's alot harder.

Also guys, hackers won't be nearly as much a problem as you think.

Couple reasons;

Warden is disabled in beta. Hackers have no idea what Blizzard protection will be like.

The average user, me or you, will lose 60$ and all games on your Blizzard account if you hack. So think about that, say you got SCII, WoW, ectera, all these games tied to your account.

Would you risk that...for a map hack? And little things like they showed there?

Would you lose all of your Battle.net games for such a thing? There will be people stupid enough to do so, but I hope no one on OCN.

Korean farmers and whatnot who will profit massively from the game will still do it, in hopes of getting their money back.

But unlike WoW's free trials, or the fact you can get the game for like 4.99$, it will still be 60$ a pop. So if each banned account does not get at least 60$+, they will be losing money...hard, and giving Blizzard more, to improve our game. tongue.gif

That's assuming you register your key to your account. Which isn't required in most cases.

Yes, hackers have NO idea how warden will work, especially when it's been used in WoW for many years.

I think Blizzard will do bans in waves, but with LONG increments in between them. Why? If you ban a hacker hours/days after he starts hacking, he will know he has no chance of getting away with it and give up. If you let him cheat for 3-5 weeks and then he gets banned, there's a much greater chance he will re-buy the game and try again. (Not to mention there will be more auctions on the RMAH, more potential $$ for Blizz)

I must admit the white rings were fun as hell at lvl 1 just f'n around.

(already had one of every class to 80+, just was screwing around with friends).

Also it is fun having an enchantress come in and do a lvl 40+ enchant on your lowbies then 1 shot everything. (I loved the mass slaughter of trash, aoe is fun)

It is required for Diablo III.

I don't understand what you are on about, it's been required for games since 2006 / 2007 and earlier even, to register your key to an account and then it's locked on that account.

BF2 had it back in 2004 and many games ahve had that since then, ALL Blizzard games do.

ALL Blizzard games don't.

In most cases it's optional. The key is used for an install in most cases. Registering it on a website only /normally/ allows you to not need to use discs anymore. Ofc that is changing lately with online DRM, but not every game has required you to register it to a site. Non of the PC games I have require any registering to any sites aside from an online account to play the online side of things, in which no key is needed for registration.

You have the option of making a new battle.net account and adding your D3 cd-key to it, or adding the D3 cd-key to your existing battle.net account with other games like SC, and WoW.
