[Official] Max Payne 3 PC Information and Screenshot Thread (Not A Port!!!) - Page 55

Game runs beautifully for me, full maxed but MSAA off. I do have one glaring issue though, and was curious if anyone here knew of a fix (and yes I did submit a ticket to Rockstar just in case it's something they didn't know about.).

Anyway. I run 4 monitors in an extended desktop config but only play games on my main monitor (designated as the main in windows as well). Everything I play runs fine on it, but with Max Payne 3, it's as if the game doesn't recognize the borders of the monitor. To elaborate:

My Monitors are set up like this

``[ ] <- Main monitor
[ ][ ][ ],--- Extended desktop screens

When I play MP3, the bottom border is essentially 'open' and if I move my mouse too far down, it leaves the game (annoying during fights and such) and if I happen to click, the game pauses, and minimizes. I've made sure the game is set to Fullscreen (checked multiple times) restarted both the game and my rig (multiple times) and still the problem persists. The only thing I can think of to do as a temp fix is to disable extended desktop (which I don't want to do since the main mon is a 16:10 ws, and the others are 5:4 and it would screw up my desktop crap)

Any ideas on why this only happens with MP3?

EDIT: hmm, my little diagram is messed up, the main mon is supposed to be centered over the others, will attempt to fix

Unrelated... I wonder how many discs the Xbox version comes on? lol.

well, graphics are okey I guess.
Nothing really special, just pretty solid.
The single player has amazing story telling and very entertaining cut-scenes.
Most of the single player is corridor super linear (just like MP1+2 tongue.gif)

The multiplayer however is a different story.
The multiplayer itself is very very cool, and could be tons of fun.
Too bad it uses matchmaking system which causes the host to be overpowered and more random disconnects then you can count.

It's kinda funny how rockstar thinks they can win the PC market over by slapping on some MILDLY noticeable DX11...
Because ye... PC is all about graphics right...? -_- No way we play on PC because of mouse & keyboard and dedicated servers... has to be graphics...

I just use FXAA since I couldn't tell a difference at 1080p but with my 670 im getting 100-120fps according to fraps

Using MSAA with modern defered renderers induces a massive memory bandwidth hit. There are work arounds though. The whole point of AMD's leo tech demo was to show msaa running with defered lighting. BF3 is another game. Most devs are just leaving msaa out of dx11 games though so I appreciate it when they implement it even if it hurts performance. Saves me a bunch of time screwing around in drivers.

There so much contrast in this game that fxaa really shouldn't look that bad. If your rig can handle it though it's preferable to use MSAA. Especially since this version hits transparencies + geometry rather then just geometry.

Personally running 4xmsaa and no fxaa.

I got the game earlier today. I called Best Buy all morning until they finally got it at noon. When comparing the Xbox 360 version to the PC, it is definitely clear the PC version is the superior version. The aiming feels much more fluent compared to the 360 version, i can finally aim and get easy head shots. The graphics are some of the best i have some on the PC.
