I used to own a PureTrak, but the Artisan Hayate is better imho.

Pads are preference.

I personally like the Razer Goliathus Speed.

you may be right. My info may be outdated. Although judging by the review it may be too slick for my tastes.

op, something to keep an eye on is the friction level of your pad. High friction pads are typically "control" pads.

Yeah, Hayate or Hayabusa are really expensive. Maybe you consider a Hien pad though and it's more affordable. Had Razer Goliathus Speed, SteelSeries QcK mass (same as heavy, just smaller) and and Zowie G-TF Speed. I prefer the Hien over them.

tbh my QcK+ is faster than my Talent, but pads are definitely preference. Not everyone likes low friction mouse pads and for some it's certainly not better.
If you want something thin than the QcK+ would probably work, the Talent is much thicker than the +, the 3mm Taito's may also be something you can look at.

I have an X trac pads XL.

Its a nice cloth pad and does the job. Lots of movement room. thumb.gif

The Razer Goliathus Speed is a great cloth pad and it comes in 3 different sizes. The pad is smooth and pretty easy to clean and has no signs of fraying after several months of heavy use. Before buying the Goliathus I tried the QCK and found it to have a bit more drag than I would like.

I also like to use my Steel Series 5L from time to time. It's a great cloth hybrid and is easier on the mouse skates than plastic pads.

I have the Roccat Taito now. Nice cloth structure, seems to be of better quality compared to the Steelseries Qck, is smoother. Comes in 3 sizes and 2 thicknesses. Doesn't cost a fortune.

Though, there might be better quality mats out there, for an appropriate price, like the Zowie mats, or Artisan stuff. I needed a mat of specific width, the Taito was one of them, hence my decision.

I own a Puretrak Talent, Artisan Hayate and Hayabusa.

The artisan's are of a better quality, but you get what you pay for.
I'm most comfortable with the hayate (or maybe I'm just used to it). After switching and trying out the hayabusa I had to drop my CPI. That thing is very slick.
If you want more control go with the hayate, if you want more speed go with the hayabusa.
