I'm not connected in any way to people making chips but just reading reports on it it sounds like a hugely complicated mess. Can you imagine having to rebuild your entire factory producing Refrigerators every two years because the technology changed? This a hugely expensive hugely complicated endeavor, it's amazing to me these companies make any money at all.

Totally man. Microprocessor manufacturing facilities have clean rooms that are thousands of times cleaner that a hospital operating room because any spec of dust can ruin the circuitry.
