ELSA Radeon x85 (x850) PRO questions!?!

Hi everyone!

Righty, so i wanted to upgrade from my good old sapphire atlantis 9000 pro, and i searched on ebay to find a nice cheap card and this is what i found!

ELSA Radeon x85 (x850) PRO 128 meg/ 256 bit agp brand new for £80 including delivery. Supposed clock speed for gpu is 480mhz with memory at 700. I recon i can get this up to normal PRO operating level with no trouble, and hopefully with your help flash it to XT PE perhaps? Can that be done with only 128 meg ram?

Now i have searched everywhere for reviews on this card and benchmarks etc, but obviously everything i return is in chinese as ELSA is an asian company.

Does anyone have any experience with this card, or could tell me anything about it?

I think it has 12 pipes enabled by default, but a maximum of 16 are available i think, however i will post the ati tool readout when i actually get and install the card. Meanwhile, any info you can give me on it would be appreciated!

Here is a link to the ebay details
http://cgi.ebay.com.cn/ws/eBayISAPI....ry6_W0QQfsubZ6

Thanks,

James

The card is very cut down version of an X850 Pro, 128mb of 700mhz memory is 350mhz most likely DDR1, not even DDR2 or GDDR3.

The core is even dropped down 20mhz, on top of that only 128mb of memory and your looking at some low performance.

Most be one of those cut down low end cards for the asian market, if the card even exists (possibly ebay scam?).

If it is a scam the seller on ebay is in for a shock, hes got good feedback, and he also says that it is GDDR3 ram. I dont think its a cut back from the 256 being 700mhz, i think its actually the 128 meg that is 700mhz. But then i'll find out, and if its not what he said it was i'll demand a refund!

I am also having trouble with my current GFX card, Sapphire Radeon 9000PRO

My motherboard is running it at 2x agp when its a 4xagp card! In the bios settings its set to 4x however.

my mobo is the ASUS A7v8x-x. There was a VIA 4in1 driver set but when i installed this it comlpetely screwed up the agp and turned it off. i had to system restore to get it back on.

Any idea how i can get it to 4x?

Theres no way an X850 pro would come with 700mhz GDDR3 (1.4ghz), which means that its memory is running at 350mhz (700mhz) which is a DDR1 speed or it could be DDR2 but thats still very slow.

Also ebay ratings can easily be faked by having multiple accounts rate them well.

With what i can decipher from the chinese website, it is GDDR3. 3.3ns hyns or something. And you cant fake 340 power seller feedbacks....did you even look at the card? yeah its too good to be true but then its from china, in my experience, they dont know what stuff is worth over here!

still, i should get it tommorrow and then ill post the ati tool... then you guys might be able to help me get it up a bit!

I know for a fact the memory must be very cut down, and only 128mb of it too. Even if it is actually GDDR3 350mhz instead of the stock 500mhz is a big drop in memory bandwith and memory performance.

Either way I'd be glad to help with any questions you have about it, you can probably even answer some of my questions if and when you get the card.

Does not look good to me. Also, it's not a VIVO card, and as far I know, only VIVO cards can be unlocked!!

VIVO cards can be recognized by a yellow connector on the card, next to the power connector. That connector is lacking on this card.

A X850 Pro goes for about £114.99 inc VAT new (and that one does have VIVO).:

This one also is a VIVO card (hard to see on the small image, but you can see the yellow connector on the right hand side of the card)
