Same way I cant play my single player Steam games when I have no internet because I need to log into Steam first to go into offline mode (
which makes these "but what if I dont have internet? Go Steam!" comment even more idiotic).
The same way Anno 2070 single player required internet access. Had/have no problem playing that game either so I guess I'll be happy with SimCity too.
I guess I'm just radical like that.
Actually a lot of the Steam games can still be played offline. Depends on the game, but a lot of the time you can just open up the executable, and it'll just work. I copy / pasted my entire Steam folder to my HTPC, and I played a few games out of it without once even launching Steam.
THIS GAME, says that it requires an internet connection to even WORK in single player. People accepted it for Assassin's Creed 2, so EA figures its fine to do now since Ubisoft can do it. People accepted Origin for BF3, so EA now thinks its okay. See where this is going?
If people would vote with their wallet, we wouldn't be having this crap going on from EA.
Oh and your argument on "people wouldn't have bought it anyway, blah blah blah"...I would have HAPPILY bought BF3 had it not required Origin. I loved BC2 and I was looking forward to BF3. Origin killed that for me though, and now I'm quite happy I skipped it now. Same with this game, I loved the SimCity franchise. But so long as EA is going to butcher it with Origin, always on DRM, and probably DLC for the cost of the game later on....not going to even bother.
