I'm Back!!! With new rig!!!

Thread Starter
Hey fellow OCNers,

Finally back. Upgraded from my old rig and made a new build.

Look in my sig below to see. Currently it's overclocked to 4.8Ghz (need to update) and stable.

Upgrades planned:

2x eVGA 560Ti FPB for 3 way SLI
Corsair HX1200 PSU
8GB of G.Skill Ram
1 or 2 SSDs though I don't know what I should buy (suggestion?)
Some watercooling setup.... (suggestions for that??)

Thanks OCN,

Have a great wednesday!

I personally would of went with a faster single GPU than 3x 560Ti. A GTX 680 offers more rounded performance that is not based on SLI compability, and games that don't utilize SLI very well a single 560Ti isn't extremely powerful.

Why get a HX1200 when there are AX1200? They AX1200 are newer and rated better. Grab the best if your already spending this much.

Get a single 128GB or 256GB Crucial M4.

(Depending on how big of a radiator you want) Currently these are some of the best quality watercooling parts in one nice set.. don't let the word "kit" fool you.

See this was built over the course of 3 months. I bought the 560Ti when it was at $249. Then the 680 came out.... ARRG!

I suppose I could wait $500 isnt that bad for a top of the line card.

I know nothing with regards to PSUs so what would be the main advantages of the AX over the HX. I'm looking for modularability in a new PSU (clean case look)

AX has everything modular, the HX does not have the 24pin and some PCI-e lines modular. The AX is much more efficient and will pull less power from the wall to produce the same results. The AX model was released to replace the HX lineup. There's other benefits, but those are the main ones. The AX is not much more expensive.

I personally would sell your 560Ti and just get a single GTX 680 rather than getting 2 more 560s. This is strictly an opinion and some people will stand by SLI, but I still prefer the headache free single powerful GPU setup. I've done around half a dozen SLI/CF builds and I just don't do them anymore. You look like your are on 1080p and a single 680 will destroy every game on the market at 1080p while consuming a HECK of a lot less power. You could keep your current PSU and still have ~300W of headroom if you go with the 680. That pays for half of the GTX 680 right there.

Interesting facts on both the PSU and GPU. Thank you very much. I will look into it.
