Laing DDC-1t from motherboard?

I'm soon going to start planning my watercooling build with Laing DDC-1t.

I want to run the pump undervolted for low noise.

What are the best options for running the pump, I'm considering connecting to motherboard put not entirely sure if it handles 10w, maybe I can put a Zalman 7v resistor making the pump run at 7v through the motherboard?

I think Ive read that recommend atleast 7.5v for this pump?

If you want to run it at 7v, I would recommend a good fan controller. Running it through the motherboard SHOULD work, most motherboard fan headers can handle 24w. But if your going to be reducing the power, especially on something that uses a decent amount of power, a good fan controller is always the way to go.

I think then I connect to motherboard?

Wonder if the simple 3fan controller that came with my Fractal Design R2 will work?

I would try and find out how much power that can handle. Not many small fan controllers are built for much over 6w or so. You could try but it would probably burn out.

I check motherboard manual, max Fan is 24w(!).

Also I think I can adjust the pump from 4500rpm(12v) to 3700rpm(so it is undervolted).
With speedfan software?

I don't think that the motherboard fan headers are voltage control, in my experience they're normally PWM so it wouldn't be much good for your pump if you want to reduce the speed. To reduce the speed you'd need a high-power fan controller.

Sys fan 2 header on your board always works with voltage control, cpu fan header can do both pwm and voltage control. You can choose it from bios settings.

Yes, so is it better put this on mobo header(3 pin) instead of cpu header(4pin).

If it is on cpu header I need to go into bios?
With mobo header I can directly adjust it in Windows 7 ---> Software Speedfan ?

I have read online that the 7v from PSU is not recommended because it causes damage to PSU.

Also bmaverick recommended me to at minimum run 7.5VDC and 950mA.

I think these pumps need more then 7.5VDC to start but once they are running they can be undervolted further?
