Ok so i have a question for all u audio guys let's say my friend gave me a Data Disk and it contained an album that was ripped in FLAC. Can i convert that down using a lame encoder to 256kb/s and it will be CD quallity. My question is because lossless is cd quality but it's a different format will i loose audio fidelity because I'm changing formats?

And on any creative X-fi Card there is an option for a crystalizer and creative touts it like it's gods gift to audio. I've played around with it and it seems to work good but what is the crystalizer actually doing to make the audio better. Good Explanation =rep +

you can most likely encode the songs in mp3 format, but the quality won't be as good as if you had the actual CD. It'll still be pretty good and I doubt you'll notice a difference.

the chrystalizer is for use with mp3 files... since data is basically thrown out to get the mp3 it attempts to figure out what was 'lost' in the encoding and put it back. So it can make some mp3's sound better.

I personally don't like it.

I leave the Crystalizer on, however I put the % all the way down to "0". Most of the time I only use it for gaming.
