RAM: Will I notice a difference between 1600 CL 7 -vs- 1333 CL 9

CPU : Intel i7 960
Current RAM: 6 GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 - 7-8-7-24
Possible replacement RAM: 12 GB (3x4GB) DDR 1333 - 9-9-9-24

I'm curious if I will notice speed difference between these two different modules. Not necessarily benchmark wise, but a difference in launching applications and overall computer use.

Thanks in advance for any input.

No, ram bandwidth is not a large bottleneck for most tasks with that CPU. Maybe there will be a slight difference in games or rendering.

Thanks for the reply Riou, I do tend to game a good amount on this system.

Precessing speed I'd go with 1600 CL7.

Here is some more reading for first gen i7 (Nehalem) memory performance:

If you were doing a lot of rendering/encoding/server applications, memory speed would be more important.

I might be able to splurge and get a 12 GB 1600 - CL 9 kit and try lowering the times down to 7 at 1333. Hmmm decisions.
