Even at times I have the same problem with the 960T (just purchased) on an Asus M4a78lt-m le , prime runs fine and then out of the blue when flying in FSX I BSOD dump and reboots.

So if I do overclock the FSB I have no risk of damaging the motherboard does not? if I overclock multiplier based ... but of course I am not stable: (

Any OC on that board will be dangerous .

So if I buy a decent motherboard and some DDR3 memory (G.Skill), for example, could safely overclock the processor?

What ASUS motherboard and memory you recommend? 8GB prefer smile.gif The motherboard is important not to exceed 90 €.

Yes!
I recommend this RAM ..Google the part # MV-3V4G3D/US
And..this company ships international..if you can find some of the good boards local..that's fine, too. :thumb.gif:

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=M5A97-EVO-BO-R&cat=MBB
Other good boards: ta990fxe(biostar),m5a99x evo,m4n98td-evo,Sabertooth 990fx,m4a79xtd..something,crosshair 4-5.
You need a new psu,too..Why not link whatever sites you shop at with a list of psus?
Or you can click here and find one from the list..you probably need 500-650w

Hi, well, I think I left a stable overclock to 3.7GHz (300mhz) to 1.381v. Not bad, huh? That if I had to raise the NB to 2200, but without turning up the voltage.

3.7ghz with x18.5 multi, default FSB.

I write again to mention that my OC is not stable in any way ... the funny thing is that it is capable of putting up 13 hours of Prime95, and when I play, I'm crash .... Now I usually give a BSOD with code 124, tells me that the fault of the ntoskrnl.exe file: S

What's going on? This is very rare, there is no way to overclock ... rising NB, FSB, multiplier, or RAM, nothing. That if I hold the Prime95, but then I get a crash when playing.

I could overclock my old Athlon II 250, 400 mhz, and with this there is no way?

This is a log of the BSOD...

Your motherboard (I also have one) isnt the best for OCing, but I got mine up to 4.0 for prime testing, but with unsinked VRMs, it is a risky venture. For the OP, are you talking about the CPU/NB or the NB?

wats your cpu overclock settings ?
volts ? nb volts ? nb ?

Ive noticed lower overclocks on my Phenom II chips when in an older DDR-2 board. Not sure if it is caused by memory controller issues or lack of good support for the chips in the BIOS.

My x2 550 maxes out at 3.4 on AM2+ and 3.7 on AM3.

Also, running the cpu-nb and core at the same voltages gives me better clocks. This has not been confirmed as a good solution. It is just what I have seen from my limited data (only 2 Phenom II chips in my collection). Just expect much higher temps if your cooling is not top notch.

Plus it lets me push the cpu-nb to stupid high speeds, nearly 3.0Ghz on an old Athlon x2 215.

Then most likely be the motherboard and memory, right?

For the PSU is not, because I've seen in an online calculator: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp#footnote5

and put my computer would consume 360W in full ... and mine is 450w, and quality.
