My Phenom II 965 C3 does not overclock :( - Page 6

overclocking is only a good idea with a good board. 4+1 isn't always a bad setup. My board is 4+1, but it all depends on the quality of the VRMs they use.

I would look into getting a decent board with 8+2 with heatsinks on the VRMs. Asrock and asus make good boards.

Yes, I buy a good motherboard and some DDR3. I'll tell you to do such.

4+1 VRM is not an issue if it is properly cooled. I have an old DFI LanParty AM2+ board running a Phenom I Chip (140W) overclocked by 600mhz or so. Its probably pulling close to 200W but handles it fine with a 4+1 VRM.

Hello friends, I have managed to stabilize the oc my Phenom II 965 at 3.9 with 1.412v ... You know that happened? Apparently the VRM warmed and was unstable, I've put some aluminum heatsinks and now works perfectly: D

I would now stabilize the NB to 2600, but not stable at 1.225v ... until voltage is safe for NB?

---

Edit: KarathKasun, VRM effectively was by ... refrigeration needed!

Regards.
