1: will your adapter work for this setup?
2: what would be the best bet for cooling VRM's and memory without the fan? or is the fan recomended.
My goal with this build is to lower heat and noise as much as possible but still reatin solid performance.
Thanks

For temps it depends on your ambient temps. also for the fan I left my stock on their and got rid of the fan's speed controll wire....kinda pulled it out on accident and they stay cool to the touch even when folding 24/7. for sound wise. it is awesome so much quieter I mean seriously it's truly worth it just for the sound dropped by at least 20-30 bda.

Hi, I'm new to the forums and this is my first post here.

I'm interested in a Dwood bracked to do 'The Mod' with my Galaxy GTX670 GC - it's the version that uses the GTX680 reference board and is identical to the EVGA GTX670FTW, as far as I can tell.

I have a Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer which I plan to take off my CPU and move to the GTX670. As far as I am aware it is a standard Asetek unit and the mounting system is identical to the Kuhler 620/920, correct?

When I switch the Water 2.0 to the GPU I plan to ditch my Hyper 212+ and put on the new Venemous-X that I just purchased - I've gotten spoiled by the low temps, haha.

I rather like the look of using a shim and leaving the OEM head spreader on, but replacing the fan with a standard 92mm like alexispresley did here with his GTX570s. Is this doable on my card? If so, would the VRM cooling be better or worse than the standard dual bracket? Would airflow from the fan go under the OEM heat spreader and out the back without the shroud on?

Thanks much for your help.

I think with the OEM heatspreader on the airflow would just dissipate over it or if you have the fan set to exhaust it was just remove all the air away.

I have a corsair h60 on my gtx 570, but I had to remove the OEM heatspreadr as the H60 didnt make contact with the gpu. I believe the only reason to leave the heatspreader on is to keep some form of contact going; I dont think its a necessity to have a HS on. I just have a 120mm fan blowing onto my VRMs and ive not had any problems. I would recommend using heatsinks though on the VRMsl i just havent got round to buying any yet.

Dwood, the brackets you sent arived really, fast, good doing business with you sir. Now to a disappointing result, I installed a Corsair H40 on my GTX 670 FTW using the bracket, and I started good, Idling at 27-28 Ambient is 26ºC. When I started playing BF3 I noticed it got up to 66ºC, now, comparing with what I've seen here in your post, I quickly thought It had to be something like, loose waterblock or w/e, but the actual radiator was very hot to the touch, so, the waterblock IS capturing heat and leading it to the radiator. The pump is at full throttle, so was the Noctua Nf-F12 fan on the radiator (pulling cool ar from the back of the case.

ANY idea?

what are your ambient temps? my 680 runs at like 60 ish when I fold. might be your TIM as well.
When it hit 66ºC my ambient temp was 26ºC. But then again I see Dwood's with a 20ish ambient and his barely hits 45ºC. Derped a little bit, using noctua's thermal paste.

Something just crossed my mind. When I was installing the H40 unit I shook it an I very clearly heard water slushing inside. Now, I have no clue if this is normal, but I think it isn't because for me to have heard water slushing there has to be air inside too, and lots of it.
What do you guys think?

Both my antec 620 and my h100 do that so no worries your ambient temps is what's most likely killing you though.

Well first of all the H40 is extremely low end, and even a Hyper 212+ runs circles around it, so don't expect miracles with it on a GPU that draws nearly 200w while overclocked.

Also, the NF-F12 really only gives good performance/noise on high-fpi rads, and it's not all that quiet either. Not sure what the FPI is on the H40, but if it's like most AIO rads, your best bet would probably be a pair of 1500 rpm fans in push/pull with moderate static pressure.

I'd suggest a pair of Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition fans (2-pack on Newegg is under $30) in push-pull. They're comparable to GT AP-14 and a bit cheaper, that should help.

Though I have a feeling that you'll also want to upgrade the waterkit even so. An H60 / 620 / Water2.0 Performer should be fine.

I'm gonna slap my H80 on push pull on it next week, and we'll see what's what. But an Accelero Mono Plus was also not enough to efficiently cool this GPU . I'm starting to think my card is a heat monster
post #190 of 231
Well from what I've read an Antec 620 is just fine on a GTX670. I have a Water 2.0 Performer (same as 620) ready for my GTX670, just waiting on my Dwood bracket.

I've also seen many good reports of Accelero Twin Turbo II with GTX670.

H80 is probably overkill, but then... overkill isn't a bad thing when it comes to cooling.
