How many memory slots does my laptop have? [Asus U31SD-AH31]

Just grabbed this notebook from Amazon. According to all the online documentation I could find, it has 2 memory slots. I installed 8GB in the usual 2 slots on the bottom of the notebook, however when I installed Speccy and CPU-Z, both show 2 slots used, with an additional 2 free, 4 total. I know there are some Asus models that have additional slots underneath the keyboard, but this is a 13" subnotebook and I wouldn't think there would be enough room on the motherboard! Is this real or just a BIOS issue?

If so, that would be awesome.

My Toshiba says the same thing.
Technically there is 4 slots, but there's only 2 on the board.

As listed on the ASUS product page.

As I suspected. tongue.gif I tried flashing to the latest BIOS yesterday and got the error "Sorry, this utility only compatible with Asus notebook." Sigh.

Yeah, your CPU's IMC supports 4 DIMM/SO-DIMM, but it's upto the ODM/OEM to actually put traces and slots for all 4 on the mobo.

I bought that exact notebook for an employee, seems like a decent laptop, has a good GPU for it's resolution, too - and doesn't compromise with an ULV CPU tongue.gif

Yeah I love it, great performance for a notebook of its size and price, handles Minecraft much better than my old Thinkpad X120e with the E-350 that cost about the same. The GT520 can be overclocked to hell also, got it at 910MHz core with MSI afterburner. biggrin.gif
