[BGR] Half of all U.S. households own at least one Apple product - Page 17

misleading numbers tbh, lol apple.

imho apple products and a good majority of their consumer base is obnoxious as hell..

however, i do enjoy the ipod/touch -

apple = simplicity at its finest

music players + simplicity = win

cheap things are rarely ethically produced and generalizing apple owners as some hipster caricature is the same as saying all custom built pc owners live in their parents basements.

My better alternative is my galaxy nexus. It does a whole lot more, sounds every bit as good, and best of all, doesnt force me to buy all my music again from itunes. Downloaded a music player app from the market for....FREE. Added all my music for...FREE.

He said iPod... not iPhone, so you're comparing a phone to a music player.

iPod's don't force you to buy all your music from itunes.

iPods and iPhones come prebuilt with the music player, and you can add your music for free ( that you already own of course ). So I fail to see the argument on the last 3 sentences.

How much does the Galaxy Nexus cost? What kind of DAC is in it? Does it have a line out option? What's the battery life on it? My iPod Touch was $180, has a line-out to my headphone amp, and is good for at least 8 hours straight of music playing (haven't had the chance/need to use it long enough to drain the battery yet), and ~9 hours with the backlight continuously on (reading e-books).

I have never, and will never, buy music from iTunes. I downloaded iTunes, for free, added my music, for free.

That can be perceptual. On one hand those people need their job to feed themselves (most likely grateful to even have a job) but on the other hand they are payed in chicken feed. One upside is that a large portion of the population can pick up a device that can access the internet and information because the cheap labor helped keep the price low. Double edged sword, people are being used but another section of people are becoming enlightened.

And then there is Apple who of course takes the largest profit margin while keeping the labor cheap, lol.

I can see the stigma that you painted, the 40 year old virgin that sits in his mom's basement. But the problem is that open operating systems are used massively in business and anything tech related. And don't forget Joe Blow who's still got his Pentium 4 and a CRT. The market is still open operating system dominated. It just can't thrive on something that is cuffed, especially business and the soccer mom who just wants to get on Facebook. That's why I think Apple will be hard-pressed to get one product in more than 60% of homes ever.

To be honest not many manufacturer focus on MP3 players anymore, since the majority of people now own phones that do the same thing for them. But yes there have been MP3 plays that are really great and in the same price range. You could go ask the question at an audiophile site and they'd prob give you an answer.

Besides i am pretty sure not many people use iPODs anymore. Who knows maybe I got older and no one i know uses an iPOD anymore.

if you take into account how many people who own one apple product own other apple products, the numbers could even out. Sadly i like full control over the hardware/electronics i buy.

What the heck is a hipster? Last person i saw called themselves a hipster was some chick i asked her why she had so many piercings and tattos, and she said she was a hipster. That is my idea of a hipster.
