Also s1rrah be weary of cpu degradation.

My cpu started off only needing 1.41v for 4.9ghz...after barely 8 weeks or so worth of full load folding betwene 75-80C it now needs 1.43v. Might not sound like much but it now needs about 4 extra cpu voltage notches to remain stable.

Once ivy bridge is out and i upgrade im putting it under water from day 1.

Erm, reseat your cooling maybe? Or have you loaded 2 cores? As those temp differences look pretty wild.

Yeah. Mine did too (at least 5ghz @ 1.4v) ... never tried any further though I sure would have liked too. I've actually thought about going back to micro center to see if they still have it shelved in back so I could offer to buy it back (while explaining that it wasn't defective at all and actually was a great overclocker) LMAO . .. would have been funny. Sure they've sent it back to Intel by now though...

But shoot...they only cost about 300 bucks so theoretically, I could buy a new one every week until I get a good one and then just sell the rest but that would destroy my sleeping patterns even more than they are already destroyed and so I'm going to just chill.

I know...they look crazy...but I think it has to do with the offset process and how it drops the VCORE vs core utilization at load.

This is the same screen shot but during load...Prime95 blend (just a few minutes to get the shot)...notice how the temps across cores have evened out?

...

LOAD:

700

...

IDLE:

700

...

That load shot is just a few minutes in a 22C room. But the temp differences are much less crazy across the cores. Now, at idle, it's gone back to the previous shot.

Funny.

My 2500K would overclock on less voltage than it does now for a couple weeks from new, 1.44 for 5GHz, but it now needs 1.46-1.47. I figure it just settled, because several months since then it's stayed the same. I wouldn't worry about the voltage if it were me.

The biggest difference i see in my cores is about 4c. Thats on my OC'd 2600k. I do however have a professional level cooling setup. At full load, @1.5v I can acheive temps of 70 or less. With the avg difference between cores still @ 4c.

Lmao I guess I picked a pretty ****ty chip.

My 2600k can need up to 1.37V under heavy gaming situations, simply at 4.5GHz Oh well, temps never hit 65 so I guess I'm fine.

For me Prime 95 draws less power from the chip than running BF3 or something, not sure if that's supposed to happen but whatever, I am under 1.4 and temps are great.

As your your situation I can't really see too much going wrong. Put it under water and it will have a good life actually. These chips can apparently handle 1.5V which means that you could really use 1.6V, people are slight "wussys" when it comes to these things and fear that a slight increase in voltage will fry your chip. To be honest with these chips you actually have to TRY to fry them, it's not that easy.

Temps are a little high however, so I would consider other cooling options.
