Exactly my thoughts. People can buy whatever they please, just don't make some weapons purchase only.

why would it matter for people who like to unlock stuff or have unlocked their stuff. It's not like this is gonna give new players an advantage, just levels the playing field. All the guns should be unlocked at the very start anyways in order to get a balanced game.

Part of the fun is unlocking new gear and progressing. Why would someone want to pay to unlock that headscratch.gif

It doesn't bother me how people acquire the weapons they use. They can unlock them, buy them, or take them off a corpse. The talent of the person behind the weapon is much more important than the weapon they're using and how they obtained it.

I've been killed at a modest range by people using basic pistols (I suck at BF3). I've killed other players who had weapons several levels above mine (I got lucky). Skills, tactics, and a tad bit of luck will overcome someone leap-frogging the "natural" progression of weapons more often than not.

And unless you're going to boycott BF3 because of this sales/unlocking strategy EA is putting into place it's ultimately a moot point anyway.

BF3 is my vent game. I just like to turn it on and kill people. Anger management! tongue.gif

I'm just kidding. If they are available to purchase, I buy them. If I have to earn them, I will earn them extremely slowly due to time constraints. I don't truly care either way and I'm not really sure why people do, so I play Devil's Advocate.

The only part of this I agree on is the co-op pack. The game's campaign is garbage, and i'd much, MUCH, rather pay 5$ to get all the co-op only weapons than suffer through that campaign one or more times to get enough points.

It is the bane of any game where gear over time gives you an advantage. At some point there has to be a shift that will allow new players a chance at a, somewhat, level playing field or you eventually lose that customer. Your "skill" gained over time should still give you the advantage but also allow the newcomer a chance to succeed.

Not only that, but the unlocks are only different.

Not better or worse. One person will tell you the an-94 sucks. One will show you a vid of how they rape people with it. That person will say the AEK sucks, but then that first person will show you a vid of how they rape people with it.

If the unlocks were like some steady stairway to getting a jump on someone who doesn't have whatever latest unlock you have then okay, there'd be a problem.

As it stands, the very first weapons you start out with in your class are 100% capable of giving you success even if you never used another weapon ever again.
