It's been a while sine I overclocked my qx9650, so I figured what the hell let's do it! So, all I am doing is increasing the multiplier and CPU voltage correct? I have my memory timings set and speed of RAM set to DDR3-1066MHz.

Currently, i'm at 3.66Ghz (333MHz x 11) with voltage set at 1.31V and i keep failing blend test in Prime95 within the first two minutes, or at least one thread fails. Is there something that I am doing wrong, because the max voltage is 1.3625V for my CPU and I am slowly creeping up to that without even going near 4GHz.

Side note:: Is there a way to turn off the downclocking the CPU does when idle in the BIOS? I wasn't sure exactly which option it was in the BIOS and didn't want to touch anything.

Check your North Bridge voltage and maybe VTT. You also have to check memory for stability.

I am running 1.26 voltage for 3.6 Ghz.

VTT is PLL Voltage? Otherwise I'm not seeing a VTT voltage in the BIOS at all.

I have the settings for VTT and NB voltages as AUTO, because I cannot find the defaults. Could someone please advise me as to what the defaults are, as I cannot find them on the interwebs (most of them are sketchy websites). Or maybe even a correct setting that they should be at or a reasonable setting.

I wouldn't directly use their CPU voltage because that looks pretty high for a Q9xxx

Hey sorry i have been away from OCN for a bit.

So is there just a rough estimate of what I should put in that you could give me? I did see that anandtech guide while i was looking for defaults, but like you said I shouldn't go anywhere near that far lol.

You should probably be able to POST at 3.6 @ 1.26V, 3.8 @ 1.28V, 4 @ 1.3-1.35V. Just as a rough estimate. You might need to up the North Bridge voltage to 1.45 when going for 4 if you are having problems.

My cheapo board I can POST at 3.8 @ 1.28V with 1.4 Northbridge. I can't get 4.0 to post on my board, even at 1.45 Voltage

I run 24/7 at 3.6 on 1.26 voltage. Which is probably a little high but it is stable and temperatures are good.

VTT I think I have it around 1.3 something...

So in terms of voltages, I just want to make sure that I have the right settings so I can do this.

CPU @ 1.26V (Start here)
VTT @ ~1.3V
NB @ ~1.4V
DRAM @ ~1.5V (Whatever My Ram Voltage is)
FSB @ ?

FSB is the only one I do not know.

Then, in terms of overclocking, I simply up the multiplier, make sure for POST, and run Prime95 Blend.

If BSOD, then up which of the voltages? Just the CPU?

I appreciate the help with the voltages! Lot of missing information based on the ever increasing rapid change of technology lol
